UniBalun PCB Kit – Multi-Configuration HF Balun / UnUn Platform

The UniBalun PCB Kit by DG1JAN is a versatile and lightweight antenna matching platform designed for QRP and HF amateur radio applications. This PCB allows builders to construct multiple types of RF impedance transformers, including Baluns and UnUns, depending on the winding configuration and jumper settings.

The design supports a wide range of configurations such as 1:1 and 1:4 Balun, as well as 1:9, 1:49, and other impedance ratios UnUn systems, making it highly flexible for different antenna types including end-fed half-wave (EFHW), random wire, off-center-fed dipoles (OCFD), and vertical antennas.

Build Concept

The UniBalun works by using a toroidal transformer wound onto the PCB footprint, with selectable jumper configurations determining whether the circuit functions as a Balun or UnUn. This allows a single PCB design to support multiple antenna matching roles depending on the build.
