Description

Overview

Transform your bare-bones Frequency Counter & Crystal Tester kit into a professional, durable, and desk-ready instrument with this precision-engineered 3D printed enclosure. Designed specifically for the popular DIY test equipment kits (compatible with most standard 1Hz–50MHz frequency counter boards), this case provides essential protection for your sensitive electronics while adding a polished, finished look to your workbench.

Whether you are a ham radio operator, a watch repair specialist using it for quartz crystal testing, a robotics hobbyist, or an electronics engineering student, this enclosure will shield your device from dust, accidental shorts, and physical damage—without blocking access to any controls or displays.

Key Features

๐Ÿ“ Perfect Fit Design

  • Custom modeled to align precisely with the PCB mounting holes, LED display cutout, button positions (Function, Gate Time, Reset), BNC connector, and power jack.

  • Fits the most common red or blue 8-digit 0.56" LED display boards.

  • Designed for the classic 3-button + 3 Pin connector + DC jack layout.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Professional Protection

  • Thick, rigid walls (minimum 1.6mm / ~1/16 inch) protect your kit from ESD (electrostatic discharge) via the insulated mounting posts.

  • Raised rubber feet included or compatible (add your own adhesive pads for slip-free benchtop use).

  • Vented sides allow airflow to prevent overheating during extended crystal testing.

โš™๏ธ Easy Assembly – No Soldering Required for the Case

  • Top and bottom halves snap or screw together securely.

  • Pre-modeled standoffs align with the original kit’s mounting holes.

  • Includes precise cutouts for:

    • Input 3 pin  Connector

    • DC Power Jack (5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel jack)

    • Tactile Switches (6x6mm buttons)

    • LED Display (full open-faced window with clean bezel)

๐ŸŽจ Material & Finish Options

  • PLA (Standard): Available in black, white, gray, blue, red, and transparent. Matte, smooth finish. Perfect for indoor benchtop use.

  • PETG (Upgrade): Higher heat resistance (won't warp in a sunny window or warm workshop) and superior impact strength. Recommended for constant use.

Compatibility

This enclosure is designed for the ** ubiquitous DIY Frequency Counter / Crystal Tester Kit** (often sold under model numbers like "1Hz-50MHz Frequency Counter Tester Kit with Crystal Oscillator" or as part of an "Electronics Learning Suite").

Please check your kit's PCB dimensions before ordering:

  • PCB Length: Approx. 72mm (2.83 inches)

  • PCB Width: Approx. 56mm (2.20 inches)

  • Display Type: 8-digit 0.56" 7-segment LED

Note: If your kit has a rotary encoder instead of buttons, or an OLED screen, please message us for a custom variant.

What’s Included?

  • 1 x Top Case Half (with printed labels: "Hz / kHz / MHz", "Gate", "Reset")

  • 1 x Bottom Case Half (with pre-drilled mounting posts)

  • 4 x Self-tapping screws (PCB to standoffs – screws for case assembly included if selected)

  • 4 x Rubber Bumpons / Adhesive Feet

(Note: The Frequency Counter / Crystal Tester electronics kit, BNC connector, buttons, and power jack are NOT included. This is for the case only.)

Why Buy a 3D Printed Case vs. DIY?

  • No Sanding, no warping: Perfect layer adhesion with smoothed edges – ready to use out of the box.

  • No Calibration hassle: Our printer profiles are dialed in so the screw holes align on the first try.

  • No ugly layer lines: Printed with fine 0.2mm layer height and optional ironing for a near-injection-molded top surface.

Assembly Instructions (Simple)

  1. Remove the PCB from your original kit (if already assembled).

  2. Insert the BNC jack, DC jack, and tactile switches into the Bottom Case from the inside.

  3. Screw your PCB into the internal standoffs using the provided screws.

  4. Place the Top Case over the PCB, ensuring the LED display seats perfectly in the bezel cutout.

  5. Secure the top and bottom halves with 4 corner screws (or press-fit for snap-together versions).

  6. Attach the rubber feet to the bottom. Done!
