Take your Quansheng UV-K5 handheld to the next level. This is not a standard dual-band VHF/UHF radio. This unit features the advanced CEC 0.5HF firmware and is pre-modified with the SI4732-A10 DSP chip – the same high-performance receiver found in dedicated shortwave portables. The result is a compact, rugged transceiver that now offers serious full-band HF reception (0.1-30MHz) including SSB (LSB/USB), CW, and AM aircraft bands.

What makes Version 0.5HF special?
Based on the popular 0.41HF release, version 0.5 introduces refined controls and new tuning steps designed specifically for the SI4732-A10's SSB capabilities. This firmware is a separate, dedicated build that optimizes memory space for the large PATCH file required to drive the SI4732's synchronous detector and SSB mode.

• True HF Full-Band Reception: Listen from longwave (LW) all the way through 30MHz, including all major shortwave broadcast bands, amateur radio SSB QSOs, and aviation AM traffic.

• SI4732-A10 DSP Chip: Provides superior sensitivity and selectivity for HF signals compared to the stock radio, with genuine SSB support.

• Precision SSB Tuning: In LSB/USB/CW modes, use keys 1 and 4 to fine-tune frequency in 10Hz increments – essential for zero-beating SSB signals and resolving weak CW stations.

• Expanded Frequency Step Selection (v0.5 new feature): Quickly change tuning steps using the * key. Version 0.5 adds 500kHz, 50kHz, and 5kHz steps to the existing range (100kHz, 10kHz, 1kHz). Jump across bands rapidly or dial in signals with precision.

• Band Plan Memory: Press the 0 key to activate the Band Plan menu. The radio automatically selects the optimal mode (AM/FM/LSB/USB/CW) when you choose a band.

• Direct Frequency Entry: Type any frequency directly using the number pad – ideal for punching in known broadcast or ham frequencies.
