Pixie SideTone ModulePixie side tone oscillator for improved TX and reduction of broadcast interference This circuit provides a sinusoidal side tone oscillator for the Pixie. As an added benefit, it will also cause reduced broadcast interference, since the muting circuit of the Pixie is a major source of broadcast interference as the LM386 goes into some sort of nonlinear mode and acts as an old-fashioned crystal detector. The side tone is generated by a standard phase-shift side tone oscillator copied from G4GVM's FOXX-3 circuit in SPRAT 98. The transistor included is a general purpose 2N3904 NPN transistor with a fairly high current gain. The variable resistor sets the side tone level, start with it in the mid position or with the wiper even closer to the top (lower output) and adjust for a comfortable level. Solid state Transistor VHF Radio Rx Air Band P.C.BWhat is it? This VHF transistor radio is based on the popular TA7358 front-end FM amplifier/oscillator IC, which supplies an intermediate frequency of 10.7 MHz. The IF is then processed with discrete transistors, making it very easy to demodulate amplitude modulation (AM) for the Air Band (118 136 MHz).
